Discovering Toronto

Last Saturday we went to Toronto. We visited China Town and we bought lots of souvenirs for our friends and family. We also went to the St. Lawrence's market, which was really nice. There were a bunch of different types of food from diverse countries like English, Chinese, Spanish, Canadian ( of course)... We tried Canadian mustard for free and the one I ate was very spicy. We also went to the Eaton Centre again and we bought more clothes and accessories. Toronto is great. Marina V.

We went to Toronto last Saturday. As we couldn't visit Chinatown the other day because of the rain we went three days ago and we bought a lot of souvenirs for friends and family. It was weird to be there because it looked like you were in China; everything was written in English and in Chinese.
Also we were at some PanAm festivities in Nathan Phillips Square where there were a lot of people enjoying all the activities that were prepared. After that, we went to St. Lawrence Market where we tried food from different countries and we were dancing salsa. It was amazing, all the people were taking pictures and dancing, it was a very lively area and we enjoyed it a lot.
We are having a very good time here and hopefully it will continue like that. Violeta L.
When we went to Toronto we walked around the city and the different neighbourhoods, then we went to Chinatown where there were a lot of souvenirs and food shops.
At Nathan Phillips Square there were different Pan Am festivities like moving circus-musicians or singers and some big letters too that said the word "TORONTO", we took some photos there.
Then we went to the St. Lawrence Market, where there was food from different countries and we ate Peameal beacon, sausages and Canadian mustard for free. Behind the market there was a performance and we danced salsa, it was quite fun!! Ainhoa J.
 Hi blog,
This last weekend we have returned to Toronto, and it was a very amazing experience.
Firstly, when we arrived we went to the St. Lawrence Market, it is a food market where we try different kinds of Canadian food like the peameal bacon or the Canadian mustards.
Outside the Market, there was a Cuban festival, and we started to dance salsa, it was very funny. After, we went around the neighbourhoods, and we stopped in one of the Pan Am Games festivities, there were people dancing and singing, also the TV was there, and they asked us about the Pan Am Games, although the questions were a bit silly because we don't have a lot of knowledge about them, hahaha!
Then, we went to Chinatown, there were a lot of things, but the highlight was the souvenir shops.
And, at the end, we went outside the Eaton Centre to another festivity and to the Hard Rock, it was a very nice day. Ana B.

These last two weekends I didn't go to Toronto or shopping like the girls. I preferred to go camping with my great host family. Camping here in Canada is something very common and having a canoe is essential for life in Canada. There are two different way of camping; you can go to the forest, sleep in tents, make a camp fire ... (like I did the first time I went camping) or you can go to a cottage, sleeping in a house near a lake, sunbathing...(like I did the second weekend at Lake Huron). But when you are at Lake Huron you completely forget that you are in a lake and you start to think you are in a beach because there is sand, waves, sun, people with umbrellas, sand castles... Exploring Hamilton

Last Friday, on our Cultural Day, we went to downtown Hamilton.
First of all, we visited one Art Gallery, it had a lot of different types of art; for me, the most impressive was one "bus" with stories in it, it had little figurines and toys. It was like a big city, with mountains, houses, roads, animals... in and outside the bus. It was amazing.
Then, we went to do roller-skating in the Harbour Front, near lake Ontario.
And to end the day we went to Art Crawl on James North Street, where we went into an art gallery and drew soccer balls for a Pan Am Games competition.
After that, we were very tired because it had been a very hot day, so we decided to go home. When I arrived home I went into the pool and I didn't want to come out! Hahaha! It was a really nice day. Ana B.

In the beginning of our day in Hamilton we went to the Art Gallery but it was closed so we went to the mall, it was good because I bought an Oreo iced cappuccino at Tim Hortons! Then we came back to the Art Gallery and there were some amazing pictures and sculptures like one big bus which was decorated with action figures and it had like a small city around it. After the Art Gallery we saw paintings and fake fishes at "the bay", it was in the Harbourfront where we had our meals to get the energy for roller skating. It was so funny because we had to wear four-wheel skates and I didn't know how to use them.
At the end of our day we went to James North street where it was supposed to be an Art Crawl but it was too soon to see anything, luckily there was the opening of a new chocolate store and we had some snacks! I loved this shop, everything tasted delicious!!
At the weekend I went to downtown Hamilton again because the Pan Am games were being held there and there was the first soccer game, Canada vs Brazil, and I watched it in the first row, it was awesome and fun. Ainhoa J.

The first art gallery we visited in Hamilton was...interesting. There were some modern artworks like cleaning products on a shelf , that I couldn't understand. There were others that were very surprising and funny. But all these modern artworks were together with beautiful classic pictures of different views or faces, and old sculptures like wood masks, people with no arms...
We went to Lake Ontario where we had lunch near the lake and we went roller-skating. We had a lot of fun there. Carlos G.
Last Friday we went by different Hamilton neighbourhoods. One of them was called Harbourfront and there we spent all our morning roller skating. At the beginning it was kind of difficult to control them, but then it got quite easier. It was such a funny morning. We also went to the Art Gallery in the centre of Hamilton. The works were very interesting and colourful. Some of them were a bit creepy though, but they were cool. There was a big car full of animated movie characters like Spiderman, Superman, Bart Simpson, Casper... and miniatures of a city's parts such as a park, a Hospital, flats, railways... That car was an excellent artistic work. Marina V.

Last Friday we visired Hamilton. We went to the Art Gallery where we took a lot pictures with different sculptures. We were impressed with one of them; a bus with a lot of little toys around and inside it. After the Art Gallery we went to Lake Ontario where we rented roller skates and had a good time talking and roller skating. At the beginning we were a bit scared because we thought that we were going to use in line rollerblades but we were wrong and we used the other type. It was funny and we had a good time there.
At the end of the day we went to James North street and we visited the Art Crawl where we drew a soccer ball that represents the PanAm games and if one of them wins, it will be published in a newspaper.
Everything has been awesome. Violeta L.
