Outakes Summer '17

Until next time Canada! 

I'll miss...

 This experience has been one of the most incredible ones that I've had. I' m going to miss a lot of things from here. First of all, I'm going to miss my host family. They have been very nice to me and I hope I see them again. Also I'm going to miss the food that my host mum made for me during this month. I loved all the excursions that we went on. Some of them were so amazing and others a little bit more boring but all of them were worth it. -Laura L.

  I'm going to miss my hostfamily because I had a great time in their house, they are very nice and friendly. Also I'm going to miss the spicy food my hostdad prepared. I'm going to miss the city because its very beautiful and the people are very kind. -Lola V.

 This experience was amazing and unique! I'm going to miss the bagels (they are delicious). Also I'm going to miss my host family. They are very nice and they were always looking after me. As well the sunset in Sauble Beach, it was beautiful! 

I'm going to remember this trip forever. -Nuria B.

 I'm going to remember my host family, because they are the best. I am going to remember and miss the times that we went to the gym and when we went bowling. I think that I am not going to miss the cat because it was very annoying. I am going to remember when we went to the Niagara Falls, it was so beautiful. I think that it was a very good trip. -Jose P.

 I am going to miss my host mum because she was very nice to me and she cooks very well. I will miss the views and the scenery here in Canada. I am going to miss the country and the different cities and activities. -Victor P.

 I will miss all the views and the scenery here in Canada. The lakes and the landscapes were amazing too.  I think I will miss all the students from all over the world who have been sharing the home with me. I will miss doing a different activity everyday and seeing new places. -Emilio M.

 The thing I will miss the most is the people, I have met new people that I will remember for ever like my host family. I will also remember and I will miss the landscapes here in Canada.  You can go walking for an hour and you'll not get bored of the landscapes because there are a lot of green areas and parks. I will also miss all the excursions and activities that we have done. -Mario L.

 The experience in Canada was unique. I'm really going to miss my host family because they were always doing their best for me to enjoy myself and have fun. I will always remember the helicopter ride! Also I'm going to miss all the friends in my group. I won't forget the trips we have done such as going to Toronto, Canada's Wonderland, Niagara Falls...

Summer Promenade

Taking in the Summer Promenade at Gore Park is the perfect break between classes!

We got to enjoy live music, play Jenga and Checkers and browse the food trucks while relaxing at the park. 

Wednesdays at Whitehern

Whitehern Historic House and Garden was built shortly before 1850.  It is a Late Classical house that is now a historic house museum. At one time, Whitehern was the home of Thomas McQuesten. On Wednesday we visited the Garden and had our lunch while listening to some live local music. We were able to have all you can drink tea and lemonade! A perfect place to enjoy lunch outdoors! 

"I heard a noise and turned around..."

We spent the morning at the Art Gallery of Hamilton taking in their permanent exhibition on the Classics, Staging Abstraction, and Kim Adams' Bruegel-Bosch Bus. From these we had to pick a painting/fixture that left an impression on us and create a story beginning with "I heard a noise and turned around..." Here are some excerpts from our stories. 

 "I ran fast to the door I knew the letter wasn't for me, but I didn't care...I thought he had the most beautiful smile I've never seen...I never answer the letters because I didn't know how to write..." -Lola V.

"I didn't know what to do. I didn't see anything, but I decided to go back home. I was walking in the forest as the night surrounded me. It was too late and my mum was probably starting to get worried. I started to hear different sounds of animals. I was scared and suddenly I looked around me and I didn't know where I was. It was very dark..." -Nuria B.

"There were an amazing and long beach on the coast of the south of Spain.

I met new people on the beach...One of my friends died..." -Victor P.

"I recognised those weird totems, those big wooden sculptures belonged to the ancient native American culture. I started running to my teacher's house to ask some important questions about the aboriginal culture...Ten years later, our town is a big city and the totems are a touristic attraction." -Mario L.

"Suddenly, an intense light appeared. That light came from the darkness and finally I could see the train.I was in the forest trying to make fire when I saw a horse running very fast. It seemed that the horse was escaping from someone...I tried to guess why the horse was running towards the way of the train.When I tried to see what had happened, I couldn't see anything.

Both had disappeared." -Emilio M.

"...I was afraid, so I started to put my own colours.."

"...It represents peace to me, so with it I could calm myself..."

"...I included the grey colour because I was angry with myself but then I realized that it made no sense, so I added light blue and light pink..."

"... I realized that my heart didn't beat in all this time, so I included the colour red..." -Laura L.

I found myself in the middle of the no-where. Someone was tempting me to keep going forward as fast as I could. My fright made me feel paralized. I just decided to sit down, inhaling and exhaling, trying to become aware of where I was and what was happening. The mix of hundreds of feelings and doubts coming to my mind at the same time made me let go. -Azucena S.

"I started to run because I was at the top... All of the cars, trucks, machines etc. started to fall down.
